What is the Download Domain Add-on?

When using CANDDi Download, you’ve probably noticed that when you generate a tracked link they look something like this:

If you work for XYZcompany, for example, your canddi download links will look like this:

xyzcompany.download.canddi.com/yourfilename

That’s because in order to identify the people who click that link, we have to run them by our CANDDi domain first.

The Download Custom Domain Add-on allows you to use a domain of your choosing for these links instead.

What’s the benefit of using my own domain?

Prospects are often a little wary of clicking links with unexpected domains.

When, for example, you contact them as a representative of X Company, and you then link them to the download.canddi domain, they may decide not to click through. That’s why using your own, custom domain for these links is so important… It helps create more trustworthy outreach and can have a real impact on your clickthrough and identification rates.

How do I get started with the Add-on?

To begin using your own domain for Download, head into your CANDDi dashboard.

1. Navigate to the ‘Add-ons’ section
2. Look for the Download Custom Domain Add-On
3. Click ‘Configure’
4. Click ‘Buy Now’

Access to this functionality will add £50/month to your CANDDi subscription, and can be turned off any time in the Add-ons menu. Or, if you’d like to save some money, talk to us about access to the Download Custom Domain Add-on for £500/year!

With the Add-on active, you have two options about how to proceed:

Buy a brand new domain through CANDDi

This is the simplest option; we’ll purchase a new domain on your behalf, through which we can direct traffic to identify link-clickers.

We recommend choosing a domain name that’s linked to your brand. For example, if your brand’s main domain is XYZcompany.com, you’ll want to opt for something like XYZcompany.to

Bring your own subdomain

This option requires you to be able to set your own DNS, as you’ll be setting up a sub-domain of the one you currently use. For example, if your brand’s main domain is XYZcompany.com, the subdomain can look something like: download.XYZcompany.com. It’s completely up to you!

Of course, we’ll be with you every step of the way to ensure your new domain is both appropriate to your existing brand, and fully functional with your CANDDi Download usage.
